In 1965,Bloomingdale's Windows Display Department placed an ad in the Sunday New York Times, Art Section, looking for sculptors to submit a portfolio of their work to be judged for inclusion into their 'Fall Fashion' Window Displays. I was one of two sculptors chosen. We were asked to create a sample section of the New Yorker Magazine's 'Dandy'. Since it is a line drawing, I chose to use 1/4" steel rod, which I bent into shape and welded together. Four days later, when I returned with the sample, they were so pleased with my work that they ordered four of the 'Dandys' for use in the store and also decided to use some of my sculptures in the remaining four 'Lexington Avenue' windows.
